A true example of extraordinary, Founders of NIRO and PowerUp by NIRO Naimah Spann and Rondelynn Bell have blazed trails in the areas of fashion, education, social entrepreneurship and business development. Through the use of their revolutionary experiential learning curriculum, motivational speaking engagements and books, these ladies are each other’s biggest supporters! They have used their life experiences as teen moms and the love for fashion, business, entrepreneurship and social competence to create an engine to teach individuals how to turn their creative talents into a viable business. This is all in an effort to reach their goal of creating 100,000 young business tycoons worldwide!
Their extensive history and knowledge in the field of fashion and design coupled with their experience in curriculum and program development was the foundation for NIRO Design Center, opened in 2007. When the need came to show and sell the wonderful items that were made within the design center and were met with continuous rejections from other store owners’ to sell and display this work, NI and RO opened The NIRO Boutique, in 2008. This swank boutique gave young entrepreneurs the opportunity to do just this.
Their Experiential Learning Model and unique business model has guided thousands of students and produced hundreds of new entrepreneurs. In the past nine years their curriculum has not only expanded to community based organizations and educational institutes throughout Connecticut, but is recognized nationally and internationally.
